About the car: Opel Astra G (T98) 4-door

The Opel Astra G has the model code T98 and uses the GM T-body platform. Launched in spring 1998, it was offered as a 3-door or 5-door hatchback, a 4-door saloon and a Caravan estate. After the Astra H appeared, the saloon and the Caravan stayed in production as the Astra Classic II, sold in Central and Eastern Europe until the end of 2009, hence the 1998-2009 range in the name of the kit.

The 4-door version has no roof rails, so the roof bars attach directly to the car body. The fitting kits are made for the car, so when buying it matters to choose exactly the version for the 4-door Astra (G). For the Astra G we do not have the permitted roof load from the Opel manual, so we go by the capacity of the bars, 50 kg, and Menabo recommends that you also check the technical data given by the car manufacturer.

What we fitted on this Astra G

Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars for Opel Astra (G), 4-door, 1998-2009 model are designed for cars without roof rails and are fitted directly onto the car body. The profile is oval and aerodynamic, 48 mm wide and 30 mm high, and each bar is 1,120 mm long. The metal components are treated with a rubberised coating and anti-corrosion protection.

On top, the bars have a 20 mm T-track for accessories with T-bolt fitting, such as bike racks, roof boxes, ski racks or kayak carriers; accessories without a T-bolt fitting can be fixed with the U-bolt fitting, around the outside of the bar. The pack contains 4 fitting kits for the Astra G, 4 feet, 2 aluminium bars, 4 locks with keys and an Allen key. The bars are TÜV and ISO approved.
