Opel Astra H Caravan (2004-2009) with Menabo Lince Silver roof bars on roof rails

On an Opel Astra H Caravan, the estate of the A04 generation, we fitted a set of roof bars Menabo Lince Silver fixed to the roof rails. We did the fitting in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Opel Astra H (A04) Caravan

The Opel Astra H has the model code A04 and was launched in March 2004 as a 5-door hatchback. The estate, called the Caravan, appeared at the end of 2004, and production of the generation lasted until the end of 2009, except for the TwinTop, built until November 2010. In January 2007 the model received a facelift, with a new front end and tail lights in different colours. On Menabo data sheets it appears as the Astra (H) Sportourer, although the estate was officially called the Caravan.

With roof bars, the type of roof decides everything. The Opel Astra H manual describes two versions: without roof rails, with fixing points hidden under covers, and with roof rails, where the roof bars are fixed at the places marked on the rail. The Caravan in this fitting has roof rails, so it received a set that fixes to the rail, not one that fixes to the body. The manual also gives a permitted roof load of 75 kg, or 100 kg for the estate with roof rails, with the weight of the bars included.

What we fitted on this Astra H Caravan

The Menabo Lince Silver for Opel Astra (H) Sportourer 2004-2011 has aluminium bars with an aerodynamic wing profile, 80 mm wide and 30 mm high, designed to reduce noise and drag. A full-length 20 mm T-track takes accessories with a T-bolt fitting, so later you can add a roof box, a bike rack, a ski rack or a kayak carrier.

The package contains 2 bars, 4 feet for the roof rails, 4 locks with keys and an Allen key, the only tool you need. The bars are TÜV and ISO/PAS 11154:2006 approved, and the maximum load is 90 kg.
