Opel Astra H 5-door (A04) with Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars, 20 mm T-track

An Opel Astra H 5-door left our shop with Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars, the version with a T-track on top. The fitting was done in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Opel Astra H (A04, 2004-2014)

The Astra H is the third generation of the model, with the code A04. It appeared in March 2004, first as a five-door hatchback, on the updated GM T platform, and Opel built it until 2014. From January 2007 it received a new front end and tail lights in different colours. Besides the hatchback, there were the 3-door GTC, a saloon, an estate, the TwinTop and a van.

The 5-door hatchback has a roof without roof rails, and Opel provided fixing points hidden under covers. The manual says to lift the covers and fix the bars in exactly these points, which is why we use a kit made for the Astra H 5-door. The roof limit is 75 kg, bars included; only the estate with roof rails has 100 kg.

What we fitted on this Opel Astra H

We chose Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars for Opel Astra (H), 5-door, 2004-2011 model, in silver. Compared with the steel version for the same model, which weighs 5.3 kg, the aluminium set weighs 4.9 kg and has a 20 mm T-track on top of the bar. The dimensions stay the same: 1,120 mm long, 48 mm wide and 30 mm high, with an oval, aerodynamic profile.

The T-track lets you fix bike racks, roof boxes, ski racks or kayak carriers straight into the bar, if the accessory has a T-bolt fitting. If your accessory only has a U-bolt fitting, it can be fitted around the outside of the bar. The set comes with 4 locks with keys, has corrosion-treated metal parts and TÜV and ISO approval.

• From the 75 kg allowed on the roof of the Astra H you deduct 4.9 kg for the bars, which leaves about 70.1 kg for accessories and load.
• 20 mm T-track on top of the bar; accessories with a U-bolt fitting are fitted around the outside.
• In the box you will find 2 aluminium bars, 4 feet, 4 fitting kits for the Astra H 5-door, 4 locks with keys and the Allen key.
• The instruction manual is included in the box.
• The product page states that the maximum load can vary depending on the car, so always respect the limit in the Opel manual too.
