Opel Astra J 5-door with Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars, 2010-2016 model

For a 5-door Opel Astra J we prepared the roof with Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars, the set on which you can then fit a roof box, bikes or skis. The fitting was done in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Opel Astra J (P09), 5-door hatchback

The J generation is the fourth Opel Astra and has the code P09. It is based on the GM Delta II platform, debuted in Frankfurt in 2009 and went on sale in November 2009 as a 2010 model. The hatchback stayed in production until 2015, while the GTC and the saloon continued until 2018; the facelift was announced in June 2012, for the 2013 model year.

The 5-door Astra J hatchback has no roof rails, so the roof bars can only attach to the body. For this, Opel left mounting points on the roof, covered by caps that you remove with a coin. A vehicle-specific kit for the Astra (J), 5-door places the feet of the bars exactly in these points. The maximum roof load is 75 kg, bars included, according to the Opel manual.

What we fitted on this Astra J

We fitted the Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars for Opel Astra (J), 5-door, 2010-2016 model, some of the best-known bars on the market, made for cars without factory roof rails. The profile is oval and aerodynamic, to offer as little air resistance as possible, and the metal parts are treated with a rubberised coating and corrosion protection.

The bar is 1,120 mm long, 30 mm high and 48 mm wide; the set weighs 4.9 kg and has a maximum load of 50 kg, with TÜV and ISO approvals. In the box you will find 4 fitting kits for the Astra J, 4 feet, 2 aluminium bars, 4 locks with keys and an Allen key. Accessories with a T-bolt fitting fix in the 20 mm track on top, and those with a U-bolt fitting are fixed around the outside of the bar.
