About the car: Opel Crossland, first generation (2017-2024)
Opel sold the Crossland between 2017 and 2024. It is a 5-door SUV in the subcompact crossover segment, built on a modified version of the PF1 platform, shared with the Citroen C3 Aircross and the Peugeot 2008. It was built at the Zaragoza plant (Spain), and production stopped in July 2024, after about 600,000 units.
On the roof, it matters whether the car has factory roof rails. On the car in the photos, the black roof has raised silver roof rails, with a gap under them, on which the roof bars are fitted. Such rails come with the top version, so not every car has them. The Opel manual for the Crossland X gives a maximum roof load of 60 kg, which includes the weight of the roof rack, and recommends staying under 120 km/h with a load on the roof.
What we fitted on this Crossland
On this Crossland we fitted the Menabo Tiger roof bar set and the Menabo Diamond roof box. The box is fitted on the roof bars, so the choice of bars and box goes together.
For other versions of roof bars and boxes, see roof bars and roof boxes in our categories. Tell us the model of your car, and at the showroom we check the compatibility together.
Useful fitting details
- Roof load: 60 kg according to the Opel manual for the Crossland X, including the weight of the bars and the box.
- Calculation: the weight of the bars and the box is subtracted from the 60 kg load, and then the luggage is added.
- Speed: the Opel manual for the Crossland X recommends staying under 120 km/h with a load on the roof.
- Height: with the bars and box fitted, the car becomes taller. Check the height before height barriers or underground car parks.
- Check after fitting: the bars and the box must not move, and all the fittings must be tightened before you set off.
- Noise: the bars can make noise when driving, especially with accessories fitted. Menabo recommends not exceeding 130 km/h, details in our guide.
