About the car: Range Rover Evoque L538 (2011-2018)

The Range Rover Evoque L538 went into production on 4 July 2011 at the Halewood plant in Liverpool, and the first deliveries were in September 2011. The 3-door Coupé stopped at the start of model year 2016, while the 5-door version stayed in production until model year 2018. Our car belongs to the facelift series (model years 2016-2018), which can be told apart on the outside by the fog lights moved higher up and the slimmer tail light above the rear window.

The roof and bonnet of the Evoque are made of aluminium, and the car in the photos has no roof rails. Without roof rails, the roof bars need a kit that fits directly onto the roof, made exactly for this model. That is why the body variant matters: the Menabo kit in this fitting is listed for the Evoque L538 5-door.

We chose Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars for Land Rover Range Rover Evoque L538, one of the best-known Menabo models for cars without roof rails. In the box you will find 2 aluminium bars, 4 feet, 4 fixing systems made for the Evoque, 4 locks with keys and the Allen key you need, so no other tools are required.

The bars are 1,300 mm long and have an oval, aerodynamic profile, with a 20 mm T-track on top. Accessories with T-track fitting go straight into it, such as many roof bike racks, roof boxes or ski racks. The set weighs 5.2 kg and has a maximum load of 50 kg.

Technical details and what to watch for

Menabo Tema Aluminium bar dimensions: 1,300 mm long, 30 mm high, 48 mm wide; colour silver.
Load: the bars have a maximum load of 50 kg. The Evoque manual allows 75 kg on the roof while driving, and with roof bars that are not Land Rover's own, their weight is included, so 75 - 5.2 = 69.8 kg; the lower limit of 50 kg still applies.
A roof-mounted bike rack is deducted from the 50 kg: the weight of the rack plus the bike must stay below the maximum load of the bars.
After the first 50 km, the Land Rover manual requires you to check the fixing of the roof bars.
Menabo recommends not exceeding 130 km/h with the roof bars fitted.
