About the car: Renault Megane IV Saloon (LFF)

The Megane IV saloon, called the Megane Grandcoupe in some countries, is the 4-door fastback of the fourth generation. It appeared in July 2016, has been built since August 2016 in Bursa province in Turkey and shares the CMF-CD platform with the Scenic and the Talisman. The saloon facelift came in February 2021, but this car's phase is not confirmed.

For accessories, the most important detail is the roof: it has no roof rails, so the roof bars need a kit that attaches to the bodywork, with fitting points that you reach when you open the doors. In addition, the Renault manual forbids any bike rack or box that rests on the boot lid, so on this saloon extra carrying is done on roof bars, on the roof.

What we fitted on this Megane saloon

We used Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars for the Renault Megane IV, with an oval, aerodynamic profile designed for minimum air resistance. The bars are 1,300 mm long, 48 mm wide and 30 mm high, and the metal parts are protected with rubberised paint and an anti-corrosion coating.

The 20 mm T-track on top takes accessories with T-bolt fitting: bike racks, roof boxes, ski racks or kayak and canoe carriers. If an accessory has no T-bolt fitting, it is fixed with a U-bolt, on the outside of the bar. The set comes with 4 locks with keys.

• Load: the Menabo Tema Aluminium bars carry a maximum of 50 kg; Renault gives 80 kg on the roof of the Megane 4 phase 2, bars included.
• Calculation: at 50 kg capacity, a 15 kg roof box leaves 35 kg for luggage.
