About the car: Renault Megane IV, fourth generation
The fourth-generation Renault Megane was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015 and is built on the CMF-CD platform, shared with the Scenic and Talisman. Besides the hatchback and estate, the range includes a 4-door saloon, code LFF, launched in July 2016 and built in Turkey, which received its facelift in February 2021. The car in this fitting looks like a saloon, but we cannot say for sure whether it is from before or after the facelift.
As on all Megane IV models without roof rails, the roof bars are fixed directly to the bodywork, and the fixing points are reached by opening the doors, as the Renault manual explains. This matters when choosing: you need roof bars with a fitting kit made for the car, not bars for roofs with roof rails. The same manual forbids racks or boxes that rest on the boot lid, so the roof remains the right place for accessories.
What we fitted on this Megane IV
We chose Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars for the Renault Megane IV, among the best-known roof bars on the market for cars without factory-fitted roof rails. The profile is oval and aerodynamic, and the metal components are treated with rubberised paint and an anti-corrosion coating.
Each bar is 1,300 mm long, 48 mm wide and 30 mm high, with a 20 mm T-track on top for accessories with a T-track fitting. Accessories without a T-track fitting can be fixed with a U-bolt fitting around the outside of the bar. In the box you get 4 fitting kits, 4 feet, 2 aluminium bars, 4 locks with keys and an Allen key.
