The Seat Leon Mk2, with the code 1P, was produced from July 2005 to 2012, on the Volkswagen Group A5 (PQ35) platform. The range received a facelift in 2009, and the product in this post is listed for 2009-2013, a period that starts in the facelift year. The model has no factory roof rails, so the roof bar set fixes to the body.

What we fitted on this Seat Leon II

We fitted the Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars for Seat Leon II (1P), 4-door, 2009-2013. The bars have an oval, aerodynamic profile and are 1,300 mm long, 30 mm high and 48 mm wide. The set weighs 5.2 kg, and the load capacity is 50 kg. The metal components are treated with a rubberised coating and anti-corrosion protection.

On top, the bars have a 20 mm T-track for accessories with T-track fittings, while accessories with U-bolt fittings fix around the outside of the bar. The set includes 4 locks with keys, plus the Allen key, so fitting needs no other tools. In practice, the most important thing is to choose accessories with a fitting that suits the bar.

Technical details and what to watch for

• The maximum load of the roof bars is 50 kg. The weight of the rack or box and the luggage add up, so stay under this limit.
• Accessories with T-track fittings fit in the 20 mm T-track, and those with U-bolt fittings go around the outside of the bar.
