About the car: SsangYong Korando C300, 2019+

The fourth-generation Korando has the code C300 and has been built since 2019. The model was launched in South Korea on 26 February 2019 and made its global debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It is a 5-door crossover SUV, sold under the KGM brand since 2023, and the previous generation, C200, was built between 2010 and 2019.

On the Korando in this post, the roof rails are raised, with space under them, and the foot of the roof bar attaches to the raised roof rail. Two things matter for the box: its own weight and the load rating of the bars. The empty box weighs 20.2 kg, and its weight is deducted from the bars' 90 kg.

What we fitted on this SsangYong Korando

The Menabo Sherman Silver XL for SsangYong Korando 2019+ are the improved version of the Menabo Brio XL, with a new design and a rubber strip on the underside of the aluminium bar. They are 1,350 mm long, 27 mm high and 47 mm wide, with a 20 mm T-track along the whole length. The maximum load is 90 kg, and the set includes 2 bars, 4 pre-assembled fixing systems and the Allen key.

The Menabo Mania 460 ABS White has 460 litres, is made of gloss white ABS, has a lock and attaches with the 60 mm U-bolt or the 20 mm T-track fitting, included in the pack. The box carries 75 kg of luggage and weighs 20.2 kg itself. It is compatible with Menabo Sherman roof bars. You will find the fitting instructions below as a PDF.

Technical details and what to watch for

• Bar capacity: 90 kg per set. The weight of the empty box, 20.2 kg, is deducted from this value, so at most 69.8 kg is left for luggage on the bars.
• Box capacity: 460 litres, with a maximum of 75 kg of luggage.
• Box fitting: 60 mm U-bolt and 20 mm T-track fitting, included in the pack. The 80 mm U-bolt fitting is optional.
• Height: with the box fitted, the car becomes taller. Measure it before a garage or a car park with a barrier.
• Anti-theft lock: the box has a lock, and the Sherman Silver XL bars have a lock.
