About the car: Suzuki Vitara LY (2015-present)
The Suzuki Vitara LY is the fourth generation of the model: a 5-door SUV on the Global C platform, in production since March 2015. The car is assembled in Hungary, in Esztergom, at Magyar Suzuki. The generation received a facelift presented at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, then 48V mild hybrid technology for Europe from March 2020 and a second facelift in April 2024.
For roof bars, the first thing to check is the roof type. Depending on the trim, the Vitara has either roof rails or anchor points for a roof rack. The Leopard set in this fitting is for the integrated roof rails, where the Suzuki manual allows 75 kg for the roof rack plus load. On the version with anchor points, the limit drops to 50 kg.
What we fitted on this Vitara
We used the Menabo Leopard Silver roof bars for the Suzuki Vitara 2015+, an aluminium set with an aerodynamic wing profile, 80 mm wide and 30 mm high, designed to reduce noise and drag. The bars are 1,200 mm long and have a 20 mm channel for T-track fittings along the whole length, and the data sheet lists them as suitable for roof boxes, bike racks, ski racks or kayak carriers.
The pack contains 2 aluminium roof bars, 4 fittings for the roof rails, 4 lock cylinders with keys and an Allen key, the only tool needed for fitting. The set is TÜV and ISO/PAS 11154:2006 approved.

Technical details and what to watch for
- Menabo Leopard Silver: 1,200 mm long, 80 mm wide, 30 mm high, set weight 4.8 kg.
- The capacity of the bars is 75 kg, equal to the roof limit of the Vitara LY on roof rails.
- Calculation: 75 kg minus the 4.8 kg of the bars leaves 70.2 kg for the accessory and load. If you fit a roof box, you also deduct its weight.
- The 20 mm T-track channel runs along the whole length of the bar, so the accessory can be positioned where you need it.
- The instruction manual is included in the box.
- With accessories on the roof, the height of the Vitara increases. Check the clearance before entering a garage or underground car park.
