We fitted on a Toyota RAV4 XA50 Menabo Dedicate OE roof bars for the 2018+ model, on which a roof box can then be fitted. Everything was done in our shop at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Toyota RAV4 XA50, fifth generation
The Toyota RAV4 XA50 entered production in November 2018 and stayed on the line until December 2025. It is a 5-door SUV on the GA-K platform, and in the European market the base Active trim has roof rails as standard. The facelift of September 2021 brought new LED headlights, without a change of generation.
A roof box sits on roof bars, and the roof bars must be chosen to suit the roof. The RAV4 XA50 has either low roof rails, flush with the roof, or a roof without rails. The car in this fitting had the low rails, and the Menabo Dedicate OE set has dedicated clamps for them, with a fixed fitting that prevents movement or play of the bars and the luggage in traffic.
What we fitted on this Toyota RAV4
The Menabo Dedicate OE for the Toyota RAV 4 (XA50), 2018+ model has two 113 cm aluminium bars, with an 80 x 30 mm oval section and a 20 mm T-track along the whole length. The set weighs 4 kg, and the maximum load is 75 kg.
Roof boxes can be fitted on these bars, as well as bike racks, ski racks or kayak carriers. When fitting a box, its fitting system and its correct position on the bars matter. Technical details and what to watch for
- Bar: 1,130 mm, 80 mm wide, 30 mm high; aluminium; set of 4 kg; lock included.
- Load calculation: 75 kg capacity minus the empty weight of the roof box = how much luggage you can put in the box. For example, with a 20 kg box, 55 kg remain.
- Also observe the roof load in the Toyota RAV4 manual; the lower of the two values, manual or bars, applies.
- The fixed fitting of the Menabo bars prevents movement or play of the bars and the luggage in traffic.
- With the box on the roof, the RAV4 is taller; check the height at garages and underground car parks.
