The Volkswagen Golf V, with internal code Typ 1K, debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in October 2003, and the hatchback was produced from August 2003 to 2009 on the Volkswagen Group A5 (PQ35) platform, with 3 or 5 doors, plus an estate version. The Golf VI reached Europe in autumn 2008, so the years of the two generations overlap; for roof bars the exact generation matters, not just the year.

Menabo Delta Black roof bars for the Volkswagen Golf V (1K), 5-door, 2003-2008 model are made of black aluminium, 1,370 mm long, 60 mm wide and 30 mm high. The set weighs 5.6 kg, has 4 locks with keys and is fitted using only the Allen key from the package. The 20 mm T-track on top allows accessories with a T-bolt fitting to be fixed, exactly like the box in this fitting.

The Menabo Diamond 450 Black roof box has 450 litres and a maximum load of 75 kg. It is made of glossy black ABS plastic, weighs 18 kg and opens on one side. It fixes into the roof bars' track with the included 20 mm T Quick Fix system, has an integrated lock and is TÜV tested and City Crash tested. In the box's data sheet, the Menabo Delta roof bars are listed as directly compatible, with no adapter.

Useful details for this fitting

• Calculation: 50 kg capacity of the Delta Black roof bars minus 18 kg for the Diamond 450 box leaves 32 kg of luggage. The box's 75 kg capacity cannot be used in full on these roof bars.
• The permitted load can vary with the car model, says the roof bar manufacturer, so also check the Golf V manual.
• The Diamond 450 box is about 90 cm wide; the length and height appear with slightly different values in the data sheet, so ask us for the exact measurements.
• On Menabo Brio or Raven roof bars, the box's data sheet calls for the Quick Fix clamp adapter, code 000082500000; on Delta roof bars it is not needed.
