Volkswagen Golf 5-door hatchback with Menabo Delta Silver roof bars

We fitted Menabo Delta Silver on a white 5-door Volkswagen Golf, which judging by the photos is a Golf 7 facelift with LED rear lights. The fitting was done in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Volkswagen Golf 7.5 (Mk7 facelift) 5-door hatchback

The Golf 7, model code 5G, was built in Europe between 2012 and 2020 on the MQB platform. In November 2016 Volkswagen presented the facelift, known as the Golf 7.5. One of the easy-to-spot differences is the rear lights, which became LED as standard. These lights are how we recognised the car in this fitting: a white Golf 7.5, a 5-door hatchback. The old title only said Golf.

Like the pre-facelift, the Golf 7.5 hatchback has no roof rails, so the roof is bare. That rules out roof bars that attach to roof rails and calls for a set that fits to the body, with feet that rest on the roof and clamps on the door frames. Menabo Delta is designed for cars without factory roof rails, with a vehicle-specific fitting kit for each model.

What we fitted on this Golf 7.5

On the roof we fitted Menabo Delta Silver roof bars, from the Menabo Delta range, designed for transport efficiency and with an improved aerodynamic design. The bars are made of aluminium, 30 mm high and 60 mm wide. They are lockable and TÜV and ISO tested.

The 20 mm T-track on top takes accessories with a T fitting, while accessories without a T fit are attached the classic way, with a U-bolt fitting, around the bar. On the Delta you can fit bike racks, roof boxes, ski and snowboard racks or kayak racks. In the box you get 4 fitting kit parts, 4 feet, 2 aluminium bars, 4 lock cylinders with keys and an Allen key, the only tool you need.

Technical details and what to watch for

Bar profile: aluminium, 30 mm high and 60 mm wide, with a 20 mm T-track.
Capacity: maximum 50 kg. If you put an accessory on the bars, its weight is subtracted from the 50 kg, and what is left is what you can actually load.
Car limit: the maximum load can differ depending on the car, so also check the roof load in the Volkswagen manual for your Golf.
Anti-theft lock: 4 lock cylinders with keys, included in the set.
Instructions: the fitting instructions are included in the box and help you fit the bars correctly and quickly.
Height: with an accessory on the bars, the Golf becomes taller, so keep this in mind at garages and underground car parks.
