About the car: Volkswagen Passat B7 (3C)

The Volkswagen Passat B7, factory code 3C, is the seventh generation of the model. It reached European dealers in December 2010, after its presentation in Paris in September, and stayed in production until February 2015; Volkswagen Classic gives the period as 2010-2014. It was sold as a 4-door saloon and as the Variant estate, and from 2012 also as the Alltrack, a raised Variant. The wheelbase is 2,712 mm, and the saloon is 4,769 mm long and 1,820 mm wide.

The Passat B7 saloon has no tailgate: the boot opens through a separate lid, and the roof, carried over from the B6, has no roof rails. The Menabo Biki is designed to attach to the tailgate or boot lid of the car, so it fits this body type with no extra accessories. The bikes sit behind the car, and the roof stays free.

Menabo Biki bike rack for 3 bikes attaches to the tailgate or boot lid and carries the bikes hung by the frame. The arms have no clamps; shaped ridges hold the bikes in position. The rack has 6 body fixings, is made of steel, weighs 4 kg and folds when you are not using it.

The maximum load is 45 kg. The Biki takes fat bikes and any frame diameter, but it is not suitable for e-bikes. It has no lock, either for the rack or for the bikes, so it suits trips where the bikes are not left unattended for long.

Capacity: 3 bikes and 45 kg in total. At an average of 15 kg per bike you reach exactly the limit, so check the weight of your bikes before the trip.
Rack weight: 4 kg. Being foldable, the Biki is easy to store in a small space; the packaging measures 67 x 52 x 10 cm.
On the Biki the bikes touch each other. After loading, check that the pedals and handlebars do not touch the bodywork of the Passat.
Clean the boot lid before fitting and place the rack centred, then try moving it left and right: it must stay firmly in place.
