About the car: Volkswagen Polo
The standard version of the Volkswagen Polo has no factory roof rails on the roof. Only the 5-door CrossPolo version has silver factory roof rails. So the Menabo Tema roof bars fit directly onto the roof.
For a box, the system starts with the roof bars as well: the box is fixed on them, not on the roof, and its weight adds to that of the luggage. Before fitting, check whether your car has factory roof rails.
What we fitted on this Volkswagen Polo
The bars are Menabo Tema Steel roof bars, 1,120 mm long, 30 mm high and 48 mm wide. They are made of steel, with a rubberised coating and anti-corrosion protection, and the set includes four feet, four locks and an Allen key.
The box is the Carbon Look 320L roof box, matt black with a carbon texture, 131 cm long and 34 cm high. According to the product specifications, it is compatible with Menabo Tema steel and aluminium bars, and the lock is included.

Technical details and what to watch for
- Capacity: the bars carry 50 kg, and the box carries 55 kg. The weight of the box and the luggage presses on the bars, so it is deducted from the capacity of the bars.
- The volume of the box is 320 litres, with an external length of 131 cm and a height of 34 cm.
- The steel bars have no T-track on top, so the box attaches with an 80 mm U-bolt fitting, around the outside of the bar.
- After fitting, the height of the car increases with the box. Check the total height before entering underground car parks or a garage.
