Suzuki Vitara LY (2015+) with Menabo Lince Silver roof bars and Menabo Mania 400 box

On a Suzuki Vitara LY we fitted the complete roof set: Menabo Lince Silver roof bars made for the Vitara 2015+ and a Menabo Mania 400 White roof box. Everything was fitted in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Suzuki Vitara LY (2015-present)

The Suzuki Vitara LY, the fourth generation, is a 5-door SUV on the Global C platform, built since March 2015 and assembled at Magyar Suzuki in Esztergom, Hungary. Along the way it received a facelift presented in Paris in 2018, the 48V mild hybrid system on European versions from March 2020 and a second facelift in April 2024.

Depending on trim, the Vitara roof comes with roof rails or with anchor points. The Lince bars in this fitting are made for the version with roof rails, where the Suzuki manual allows 75 kg, that is the weight of the bars, the box and the luggage together. Even though the Lince bars are rated for 90 kg, on the Vitara the real limit is that of the car, 75 kg, and the product page of the bars also tells you to consult the car maker's data.

What we fitted on this Suzuki Vitara

The base is the set of Menabo Lince Silver roof bars for Suzuki Vitara 2015+, made of aluminium, with an aerodynamic wing-shaped profile, 80 mm wide and 30 mm high, which helps to reduce noise and air resistance. Each bar is 1,200 mm long and has a 20 mm T-track for the T-bolt fitting along its whole length. The kit fits onto the integrated roof rails and includes 4 feet, 4 anti-theft locks with keys and an Allen key, with no other tools needed. The bars are TÜV and ISO/PAS 11154:2006 approved.

On top of them we put the Menabo Mania 400 ABS White roof box, 400 litres, made of glossy white ABS plastic, with a lock and a capacity of 75 kg. The product page of the box confirms compatibility with Menabo Lince bars, and the box also comes with the 20 mm T-bolt fitting, matched to the 20 mm T-track of the bars.

Technical details and what to watch for

• Menabo Lince Silver bars: 1,200 mm long, 80 mm wide, 30 mm high, capacity 90 kg, 20 mm T-track.
• Menabo Mania 400 White box: 400 litres, maximum 75 kg, 60 mm U-bolt and 20 mm T-bolt fittings included.
• The limit that counts on the Vitara LY is 75 kg on the roof rails. The weight of the bars and of the box is deducted from it, and what is left is the maximum weight of luggage.
• With the box fitted, the height of the car increases by the bars plus about 36 cm for the box. Watch out in garages and underground car parks.
• The instruction manual for the Lince bars is included in the box, and the fitting instructions for the Mania 400 box are below as a PDF.
• Spread the luggage evenly in the box, with the heavy items at the bottom, as the Suzuki manual recommends.
