On a Dacia Duster II (HM) we fitted Menabo Brio roof bars and the Menabo Marathon Dark 400 roof box, the shorter version with 400 litres. We did the work in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom, now located at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Dacia Duster II (HM)
The Dacia Duster II, code HM, is the generation produced for Europe between 2017 and 2024, on the B0+ platform. It was presented at Frankfurt in September 2017 and has been on sale in Romania since November of the same year. The facelift, with a new light signature at the front and rear, was presented on 22 June 2021. Menabo calls the bars for this car Duster III 2018-2023, but the years make it clear that it is the HM generation.
On the roof, the Duster HM has factory roof rails, according to the 2018 Dacia brochure: black on Essential and Comfort and with a satin chrome look on Prestige. This means the roof bars fix directly onto them. The same 2018 brochure gives 75 kg as the maximum weight on the roof for all engines, and with a light box more of this limit is left for luggage.
What we fitted on this Duster
We started from the Menabo Brio roof bars for the Duster 2018-2023, made of aluminium, with an aerodynamic 48 x 28 mm profile and a length of 1,200 mm. The 14 mm T-track on top takes accessories with a T-bolt fitting, and those without a T can be secured with a U-bolt fitting around the outside of the bar.
On top of them we fitted the Menabo Marathon Dark 400 roof box. It has 400 litres, a matt black ABS shell, a lock and right-hand opening. At about 165 cm long, it falls into the class of medium boxes, 140-180 cm, and weighs 13.2 kg. The maximum load is 50 kg. The product page lists it as compatible with Menabo Brio bars, and the 60 mm U-bolt and 20 mm T-bolt fittings come in the box.

Technical details and what to watch for
- Menabo Marathon Dark 400: 400 litres, about 165 cm long, 13.2 kg own weight, maximum 50 kg load, matt black ABS.
- Menabo Brio: 2 aluminium bars of 1,200 mm, 14 mm T-track, 4 pre-assembled fittings, lock, maximum 90 kg.
- Calculation on the Duster II: 75 kg on the roof (2018 Dacia brochure) minus 13.2 kg for the box leaves 61.8 kg, from which you also deduct the bars. The box, however, accepts a maximum of 50 kg, so 50 kg remains the limit for luggage.
- With a box about 36 cm high and bars 28 mm high, allow almost 39 cm above the roof rails, plus the height of the fittings, when you enter underground car parks.
- The Brio bars have no PDF manual on the site, but the instructions come in the box, together with the Allen key.
