This Dacia Duster II (HM) received Menabo Brio roof bars and a Menabo Mania 460 ABS Black roof box, in glossy black. The fitting was done in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom, which you can now find at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Dacia Duster II (HM), 2017-2024

The Duster HM replaced the first generation in 2017: it was announced at the Frankfurt Motor Show, between 14 and 24 September 2017, and reached Romania in November. It is a 5-door crossover SUV, built on the B0+ platform and produced for Europe until 2024. The facelift was presented on 22 June 2021 and went on sale in September 2021. At Menabo, the roof bars for this model are called Duster III 2018-2023.

The 2018 Dacia brochure confirms that roof rails are standard on the Duster HM, black on Essential and Comfort, with a satin chrome look on Prestige. For us this means a clean fitting, with the roof bars attached directly to them. When you choose a heavier box, such as the Mania 460, the 75 kg roof figure from the same brochure matters too, because it covers both the box and the bars.

What we fitted on this Dacia Duster

Menabo Brio roof bars for Dacia Duster 2018-2023 come in a set with 2 aluminium bars of 1,200 mm, 4 pre-assembled feet for roof rails and an Allen key. The 48 x 28 mm profile is designed for less noise on the move, and the 14 mm T-track on top takes accessories with a T fitting. The bars have locks and a maximum load of 90 kg.

On them we fitted Menabo Mania 460 ABS Black roof box, in gloss black. It has 460 litres, a length in the 180-200 cm class, a maximum load of 75 kg and a weight of 20.2 kg. The shell is ABS plastic, and the box has a lock and opens on the right. The pack includes the 60 mm U-bolt fitting and the 20 mm T fitting, and the product page lists it as compatible with Menabo Brio bars.

Technical details and what to watch for

Calculation on the Duster II: 75 kg on the roof (2018 Dacia brochure) minus the 20.2 kg box gives 54.8 kg, from which you also deduct the weight of the bars. What remains is how much you can actually put in the box, even though the box is rated for 75 kg.
The box is around 36 cm high and the bars 28 mm, so count on almost 39 cm above the roof rails, plus the fittings.
The Brio bars have no PDF manual on the site, but the fitting instructions are included in the pack.
